Easter in the park
On Wednesday Lytle first graders went to John Lott Park for an Easter Egg hunt. Students hunted for eggs and then were able to play on the playground. We also ate lunch and cracked confetti eggs. Thank you to the parents who were able to contribute and volunteer their time to make this a success.

Zoo Field Trip
Lytle first graders went to the zoo on our field trip yesterday. All of the students had a blast. I have heard about all kinds of animals since we went. I would also like to thank all of the parent volunteers who helped make this day a success.

Cabbage
Earlier this year we planted cabbage in our class garden. On Monday we were able to pick three heads of cabbage. On Tuesday we sampled the cabbage in its raw form and steamed. The majority students tried and loved both. I think they enjoyed the act of growing their own food more than anything.

Broccoli from our gardens
Earlier this year the students started a garden. They weeded, planted, watered and checked on the progress weekly. They planted broccoli and cabbage. This week the broccoli was ready to be picked. Many of the students tasted it in its raw form. Most of them were not a fan. On Tuesday we steamed the broccoli and 15 students wanted to try it. I was surprised when 11 of them actually liked it and wanted more. Lets hopw our next crop will be as successful.

Animal PBL
Students are starting to learn about animals. The San Antonio Zoo has asked first graders to help them find a new animal. The students are working in groups to find out as much information about their animal as possible. To do this they are researching and learning about life cycles, habitats, relationships between babies and adults, what they eat, how they are born, and what kind of animal it is (mammal, reptile etc).
